difference of kickboxing?
what is the difference between Tae Bo and Muay Thai i also dont get what cardio kickboxing does is that like for fitness because i would like to get into Kickboxing for fitness and also training?
I will be glad to help you out my friend.
Tae Bo: Created by Billy Blanks, basically Aerobics with a Martial Arts theme. Meaning repeatedly doing kicking and punching as an Aerobic exercise. Think step aerobics or any other type aerobics, but now do Martial Arts inspired moves while dancing around… that is pretty much it. (it's aerobics, no fighting)
Cardio Kickboxing: Generic Tae Bo, basically the same thing though. Kickboxing themed Aerobics. So instead of doing jumping jacks you are doing kicks and punches. (I laugh my ass off seeing these people do this while wearing handwraps lol) (no fighting, or sparring or anything)
Muay Thai: The real deal, essentially kickboxing with more striking points allowed, and fighting in the clinch. So you have kicking, punching, knees, and elbows. Additionally strong emphasis on leg kicks, and working in the clinch. (Particularly knees and throws from the clinch). Hard sparring, hard fighting, and hard conditioning. It is a fighting Martial Art.
That about covers it, message me if you need any further clarification.
how many dans is serkan yilmaz and does he train kickboxing or muay thai and is this combo better than mma?
mma in my case muay thai wrestling judo brazilian jujitsu
and with the tkd kickboxing aspect i was going to add jujitsu later on but i already have hapkido
I'm not sure of his Dan but he does Tae Kwon Do
But he also participates in Wushu and Kickboxing
I think your combo is better suited for MMA
Do any of you all have any experience with the Total Martial Arts program at Bally Total Fitness.?
Bally Total Fitness is the only place around me that has lunchtime martial arts classes. These aren’t the aerobic kickboxing type classes. http://east.ballymartialarts.com/
Have any of you all had any experience with this program? Let me know your thoughts.
its a crock you would get better martial arts training from a clown school, for the love of god its worse than anything even united studios could come up with. If you know anyone who works in physical therapy they will tell you how bad Bally’s fitness programs are and the same can be said about their new attempt at a mcdojo
Does Muay Thai Kickboxing have a ranking system equivalent to belt rankings in Tae Kwon Do?
traditional muay thai doesn't, you train, and either you become a fighter or you don't.
Advanced-Ram Muay
The Ram Muay ritual dance
The special relationship between a Muay Thai boxer and his trainer are gracefully expressed during the Ram Muay (a Muay Thai boxing dance) that precedes every Muay Thai match. This tradition goes back to ancient times and is a further demonstration of the fighter’s respect and gratitude. Official Muay Thai regulations specify that both fighters must perform the Ram Muay before every bout. The Ram Muay is an aesthetic, dance-like ritual, which usually lasts about five minutes and is done through a series of gestures and movements performed in rhythm to ringside musical accompaniment. The Ram Muay developed differently in various regions under different teachers. Two fighters performing identical Ram Muay rituals would know they studied under the same teacher or came from the same school, and so would not fight together. There are no rigid rules regarding the performance of the Ram Muay. You should stick to your teacher’s guidelines. taken from the Ramakien ( a Thai epic closely based on the Hindu Ramayana). Wearing the traditional Mongkon haedbands created from written monk’s prayers that are wrapped in silk thread, the boxer move gracefully in the center of the ring, bowing in all directions. The dance is a mark of respect for the boxer’s trainer and parents. As Niamh explains, “It also serves to calm a fighter so she can take possession of the ring and feel safe there.” Supposedly in the past you could tell which gym a fighter came from on the basis of the style of the dance. Nowadays this is no longer true.
